The nuttiness is back! Brian T. Dessart returns to host the wild #NHLNugget weekly hockey video series, taking fans on a distinctive ride through the historic-laden National Hockey League. Inaugurated as a collaborative campaign with Sports Illustrated's digital platform, the #NHLNugget ran for an astounding 225 episodes before coming to a rest in 2019. Well, following a perfect synergetic storm in 2022, the uniquely-original hockey production received a revival, along with its own platform, fresh new look and swag ... including an alliance with The Hockey News | Sports Illustrated in 2023, and, most recently, a transformation to The Hockey News | Yahoo Sports in June 2024.
Each weekly segment features eye-pinning themes of "Milestone Monday," "Wild Wednesday Rewind" or "This Weekend's Way Back When." We hope you'll enjoy this chiseled format, while learning a bit about the history-entrenched NHL ... and maybe even experience a chuckle or two.
Pomp & Circumstance: On Jan. 1, 2023, NHLNugget.com birthed its newest offspring, #OlympicBiscuit. Puck yeah! This handsome monthly collection provides a smooth examination inside the coolest Winter Olympics sport.
Brian T. Dessart, a 25-year journalist, conceived the #NHLNugget in 2016, with his then-SI producer, Mike. In what started as a simple nightly text-based Tweet, gradually transformed a keyboard into a video lens. The original and current series, which is primarily filmed at Brian's residence on Long Island — while realizing that only the clothing he wears on top truly matters — has seen segments take viewers to virtual locations in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, North Carolina, Alberta, Ontario, Cuba, Iceland and Italy. Following Feb. 2022's #NHLNugget reboot, which has currently amassed 3.2M-plus video views, reaching over 2M fans, Brian remains stoked and hopes to provide the audience with a continued opportunity to learn about this planet's most well-known hockey league.
Brian, who can often be found bouncing around the scene in Miami Beach, had only one thing to say when asked about the #NHLNugget's mantra: "The nuttiness continues!" Please, don't ask. He was once struck in the noggin with a hockey biscuit. Hard.
In his spare time, Brian relishes long walks in lava fields, performing synchronized somersaults at 36,000 feet, and meditating among primates in Central American rainforests. For an encore, Brian also can be seen jammin' to everything Justin Bieber. BUT "The Biebs" is a confirmed Toronto Maple Leafs fan, so we'll let things slide.
Even though a total eclipse of the sun (Little Shop of Horrors-style) would seem more likely, Brian has claimed residency on Cameo. Sometimes, it's better not to assume.
Our fans are a real part of our team. Send us a message to cheer us on, ask us a question or make a suggestion for future #NHLNugget segments. We look forward to hearing from you, and we will get back to you soon. Thank you for reaching out to us.
